This playlist documents our weekly get-togethers — musicians playing for the simple joy of it. Most performances are first-take sight-reads from a large library of charts, reflecting the versatility and reading fluency of seasoned players, many active in the LA studio scene. Nothing is over-rehearsed — what you hear is real-time interaction and trust. Our repertoire includes originals by member Dan Radlauer, selections from the Tom Kubis library, and music associated with jazz artists such as Art Blakey, Hank Mobley, Lee Morgan, Art Farmer, Roy Hargrove, John Fedchock, Eric Alexander, Steve Davis and others. Everyone here stays busy with other projects; this session is about keeping the music alive, exploring great charts, and enjoying the process. Led by trumpeter Larry Newman.
